Food & Water Action, the political arm of the national advocacy organization Food & Water Watch, is endorsing Karen Smythe in her campaign for the District 41 State Senate seat.
Food & Water Action endorsed Smythe based on her commitment to moving New York to 100% renewable energy by 2030, stopping fossil fuel infrastructure projects statewide, and protecting publicly-owned water systems from corporate takeover.
“Karen Smythe is just the kind of leader we need in Albany to pave the way to 100% renewable energy in the Hudson Valley.” said Santosh Nandabalan, an organizer with Food & Water Action. “We’re honored to be part of the grassroots movement to push her, the well-being of residents and our environment in--and the industry interests of polluters out.”
As one of the lead organizations in the successful statewide campaign to ban fracking, Food & Water Watch organizers and volunteers spearhead campaigns to shut down fossil fuel infrastructure, like the fracked gas power plants and pipelines proposed across the state. The group is also pushing the state to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Food & Water Action is the affiliated 501(c)4 arm of Food & Water Watch. This is the first election cycle in which Food & Water Action will make endorsements and deploy its statewide power to send strong climate champions to Albany.
